Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement Wednesday night indicating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and had been in contact with the league office.

The organization did not mention Rice specifically in their announcement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete directly, shared a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She did say the person involved was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs selected in the second round.

Official Complaints Currently Not on File

No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.

Rice's Prior Off-Field Troubles

Rice was absent for the first six games of this season following an league-mandated ban for his involvement in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left several individuals hurt. Rice was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

Statistically, he concluded the year with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade.
