Rob Edwards along with Gary O'Neil are two of the initial names in the frame to succeed the former manager as manager of Wolves.

Pereira was sacked on Sunday after the team's 10-match winless start to the top-flight campaign.

And both candidates - both of who have historic links to the team - are among the names to be evaluated by the club ownership.

The manager is currently at Middlesbrough, which would pose a possible obstacle to his appointment at Molineux.

Nevertheless the ex- Luton Town head coach - who made more than 100 of games for Wolves during his playing career - is considered a strong contender for the position.

The mid-career manager is reportedly enjoys support from the club directors as they start the process of hiring a new head coach.

O'Neil is also emerging as a surprise candidate, although he would be a shock choice given he was sacked by Wolves in December last year.

The former West Ham player is currently unemployed meaning the club would not be required to provide any buyout fee.
